Explore Chiavari
Chiavari, the heart of the Tigullio coastline, is one of the main Ligurian towns.
It is located in the alluvial plain formed by the River Entella and stands in a favourable position for communications with the Po valley and the 5 valleys: Aveto, Fontanabuona, Sturla, Graveglia and Petronio.
Chiavari can be reached from the Aurelia state road, which enjoys panoramic views of incomparable beauty along the way. The town is on a human scale and its lively old town is well-known for its characteristic porticos. In the Chiavarese area, there is a great variety of landscapes, luxuriant nature and a strong sense of traditions, above all in local craftsmanship.
A lively centre of trade in the Middle Ages, in modern times it focused primarily on its tourist vocation, which was further boosted in 1970s with the new marina.
